Sometimes it is best to start with the simpleist solution.

Try rubbing baby powder into the cracks. Work it in good and see if that solves the problem.

The next step depends on whether the stairs are simply applied treads or
mortised.

Ideally you have mortised treads and have access from behing the stairs.
You will find wooden wedges which need to be tapped further in the groove.

You want to avoid having to nail or install screws down through the tread
into the stringer.

There are pressure injection glue guns, which might allow you to "tack"
selected points of the tread.

Stair squeaks are much like wood flooring squeaks, so you might want to look
over:
