The typical spacing it to allow for 3/4" for the jamb and another 1/2" for
shims on each side. So for a 32" door the opening 34 1/2". On the
vertical, this depends on thew flooring you are planning. You need to allow space for the flooring, carpet or threshold. This could be from 1/2" to 1-1/2". Door dimensions are typically 80", but some are 82". The opening
from the subflooring to the door header would be the door plus the space at the bottom, plus 3/4" + 1/2" for the header.
