Long time reader, this is my first post for advice:

Just bought a house where the master bath has a leaky shower pan. I need to clear the ceramic tile, about eight inches all the way around, and of course bring up the tile floor too. I'm going to have a plumber do the actual pan removal/install, but I want to do the ceramic.

Any advice on how to break the tile floor and the squares on the walls while leaving everything above eight inches off the floor intact? What tools should I use?

Also, I want to replace the ceramic floor in the bathroom itself. What types of back board should I use for the floor of the bathroom itself.

Thanks a ton. e-mail me at dryanc@home.com if you can.

Bryan
